Jan 26, 2017 - Trump Declares War on Immigrants

My parents immigrated in the 1960s. From the moment they stepped foot in America, they worked tirelessly, day in and day out, to build a future for their three kids.

My immigrant parents, like your immigrant parents, grandparents or great-grandparents, are the reason I am who I am. The executive orders that Donald Trump issued yesterday not only declare war on our immigrant communities, but bring the fight to all of us.

The time to stand up, join together, and fight back is now.

Regardless of Trump and his anti-immigrant policies, I will continue to champion policies that protect our immigrant communities, prevent Trump from co-opting state agencies to enforce his xenophobic policies, and build trust between local law enforcement and our diverse communities. And I will do everything in my power to ensure San Francisco remains a sanctuary city and a refuge for everyone.

If this fight is as personal for you as it is for me - or if you understand how important it is to stand up for our neighbors and friends, to protect everyone’s rights, and to provide sanctuary to those under attack - please join us. We have much work to do.

I signed this petition to make clear that I stand with sanctuary cities and campuses.

Join me in sending a strong message today - the time to act is now.
