March 23, 2017 - We've Overcome the First Hurdle - Onwards!

I write today with big news. Our bill, the Immigrant Tenant Protection Act, just passed the Assembly Judiciary Committee.

The Immigrant Tenant Protection Act is our first big stand against Trump’s dangerous immigration policies. It defends tenants, of any immigration status, from retaliation and harassment by a small minority of unscrupulous landlords.

Immigrants should not have to live in fear simply because they pay rent. Trump has declared war on immigrants, and we will not sit idly by while he works to tear families apart and incite fear nationwide.

If you signed our petition, thank you. With your voice and your help, we are showing Sacramento that we need this legislation.

The fight is not over yet. The bill now heads to the Assembly Privacy & Consumer Protection Committee, who will decide whether to send it on to the full Assembly for a vote. If you have not yet signed our petition, there is still time.

Thank you for your support. I’ll post more updates as soon as I have them.
