The Bay Area just got the go-ahead to create more affordable housing next to BART stations. This past week, Governor Jerry Brown signed our BART transit-oriented development bill, AB 2923, into law.
This could not have come at a more critical time.
As the Bay Area faces the worst housing and congestion crises in our history, this law will streamline new housing production on surface parking lots around BART stations.
We desperately need to create more housing next to major transit hubs to meet the needs of a rapidly growing Bay Area, and this new law is a big step in the right direction. Thanks to all of you who fought alongside me to get this passed.
We still have so work to do to make sure everyone in San Francisco and the Bay Area can afford to stay in our communities. I hope you’ll join me for the next challenge.
