David speaking at the Prop D Campaign Launch, fighting for lower drug pricing

The son of a doctor, David has devoted hundreds of hours to pursuing policies to make San Francisco healthier for all.

  • Protected nail salon customers and employees by creating a first-of-its-kind program to encourage the phasing out the “toxic trio” of chemicals commonly found in nail polishes by positively recognizing nail salons free of such products.
  • Fought for lower drug pricing as the lead proponent for November 2013’s Proposition D, which requires San Francisco city government to make best efforts to negotiate better prices with drug manufacturers, as well as successfully negotiated the continuation of the city’s successful disposal program for discarded drugs.
  • Led negotiations for rebuilding 21st century Cathedral Hill and St. Luke’s Hospitals to refashion a CPMC plan that will rebuild those hospitals the right way and provide community benefits for health, housing, jobs, transit and neighborhoods.
  • Spearheaded the Chinese Hospital by carrying the legislative approvals that are bringing a hospital that provided model health care to generations of immigrant families into the 21st century.
